The play area off Station Road, will be closed until further notice following government guidelines issued on Monday 23 March 2020

This closure is to help stress to people the importance of social distancing as set out by the Government and help to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

The footpath and green spaces are still accessible so that people can exercise, however it is vital that people follow the Government’s guidance and stay at least 2 metres apart.  Please do not congregate in large groups.

Please stay in your homes as much as you can and avoid social contact wherever possible.

Thank you for your co-operation

New defibrillator on the front of The Pavilion, next to the Co-op, Hall Bank
15th March 2020

Thank you to Rea Valley First Responders for their donation of two new defibrillators in the parish.  One can be seen outside The Pavilion (see photo left) and one at Cruckton Village Hall.  Thanks also to Cllrs Fletcher and Sandells for their donations towards the defibrillator boxes.  The Codes to open both boxes are C159x.  Unfortunately, we had to postpone the first aid and defibrillator training planned for March due to restrictions placed on trainers in relation to COVID.19.

In the meantime, the advice to the Pontesbury and Cruckton population is as posted on your new boxes :

  • Check for breathing for no more than ten seconds.
  • Dial 999 – tell Ambulance control you have a non breathing person at xxxxxxx location
  • Get someone to start chest compressions immediately and don’t stop until AED arrives
  • Tell Ambulance you have access to AED ID box no. AGA918 Pontesbury Pavilion,

4263 Pontesbury Public Toilets, or AGA898 Cruckton Village Hall.

  • Go for the AED, or send someone else to get it  – box access code C159X (both The Pavilion and Cruckton,  C1 Pontesbury Public Toilets)
  • Apply AED soonest, urgently, to casualty – follow machine instructions.
  • Carry on with AED/CPR until paramedic arrives.

If you are interested in attending the first aid training which will be re-arranged as soon as possible, please contact the parish Clerk.

Anna Lawson, new Building Assistant/Cleaner at The Pavilion
15th March 2020

We are delighted to welcome Anna to the parish council team and such crucial roles for the new Community Hub and Library (The Pavilion).  Anna is a  local resident who attended both Pontesbury schools and  returned to the village to live near family in 2009.  Anna's mum and grandparents were locals and Anna is keen, as her grandparents before her, to be very active in the parish.  Anna has worked at Mary Webb and run her own cleaning business and brings a wealth of experience to these important roles.  Anna will be the main point of contact if you want to use the building and will work alongside Beverley Link, Library Branch Manager, the parish councillors and Friends of Pontesbury Library to keep the building running smoothly and ensure it is the vibrant community space we envisage.

Community Hub and Library

Serving Pontesbury and the wider Rea Valley communities

Pontesbury Parish Council is delighted to announce that The Pavilion will be opened at 9.45 am on Monday 6th April, 2020 by Howard Thorne from Shropshire Homes, who have provided the building for our local community.

The Pavilion is situated at the top of Hall Bank, easy to spot between the new Co-op and Ark Nursery building.  This community hub will be the new home for Pontesbury Library as well as offering a vibrant community meeting space.  We hope it will be a place to share ideas, promote community organisations and access information and support you may need.  Soon the Local Neighbourhood Policing Team will also be using the building as their new base.

In the first week The Pavilion will be open from Monday 6 April to Thursday 9 April, from 10am-5pm each day, for you to come and look around and ask questions. The Pavilion is a resource for everyone in the Rea Valley area and we need your ideas about how the building can be used and how it can develop in the future.

Come and have    a look and see what is has to offer!
